Charges for Training |
Our normal basic rate is £27.00 per hour, per instructor. This means it becomes much cheaper when there are a number of people who want lessons together. However 'health and safety' requirements put upper limits on the number of trainees per instructor. For children in an 'off road' situation, the maximum is 12 per instructor (assuming a teaching assistant or suitable parents to help with supervision) For 'on road' instruction of children, the instructor/pupil ratio is a maximum of 2 : 12. We have special group discount prices and are always happy to quote for larger numbers.

Booking for Children |
Lessons are subject to the suitability and condition of the child's cycle, which will be examined before the start of the training. It is always the responsibility of the parent to ensure that the cycle is in a safe and roadworthy condition. (see bike care page) It is advisable for your child(ren) to wear gloves, sturdy shoes, and bright, weatherproof clothing. A crash helmet might help to protect them if they were to fall and hit their head, and you are advised to consider whether they should wear one. An ill-fitting helmet can do more harm than good, so If you decide to get one it's best to make sure that (1) It is marked with one of these standards CE; BS6863; ANSI Z 90 4; AS 2063; SNELL, (2) It fits closely to your head, covers your forehead, and feels comfortable, (3) The helmet and straps do not cover your ears or restrict your vision, (4) When the straps are done up you cannot pull the helmet off, and the straps do not come undone easily, (5) The internal size can be adjusted to aid comfort and fit, and it has ventilation slots. If you need to buy a helmet for your children, we suggest you let them choose it as they are then more likely to wear it. However, full face helmets are intended for 'off road' use and deprive wearers from the ability to hear the direction of approaching traffic. We want to make booking with us as easy as possible.
